Students Served

Learning In Style students:

  • are 18 years of age or older
  • have limited proficiency in English
  • are committed to regular attendance

LIS also welcomes adults who have no previous formal education.

We invite adult immigrants to expand their possibilities through language and learning. Depending on their needs, students may:

  • Acquire language tools for successful living
  • Become computer literate
  • Become life-long learners
  • Study to become citizens
  • Work one-on-one with tutors in math, computers, conversation, job searches, etc.  (Must be enrolled in English class.)

Students studying for citizenship must also take an English class. English proficiency includes reading, speaking, listening, grammar, sentence structure, and writing.

Registration

Students who wish to register for classes come in person to the office. No appointment is needed for registration which takes approximately 1 hour.  Registration includes a placement test.

Registration Hours Monday – Thursday
Morning: 9:00 am — 11:00 am
Afternoon: 1:00 pm — 3:00 pm

Learning in Style is closed during June, July and August.
